Madison Reed

The Future of Hair Color

Madison Reed is a professional at home hair color transforming the hair color box experience. The 3 year old startup is at the forefront of innovation with hair color that is better for you and targeting women over 40. Our mission is to make personal care more personal.

Packaging & Guidelines

Rethinking the direction of all the Madison Reed packaging was a big part of my job. Creating a shipper box that was easy to fulfill, be cost effective  and still delight our customers, was the first order of business. I worked closely with our product team, as well as a box engineer. The box is on 100 recycled paper, which aligns with our environmentally friendly brand values.

My task was to work with the product team on bringing our 24 colors to life in retail and QVC. All at home color brands use models, which is why I chose a lush swatch cover three sides of the box. The results were record breaking sales upon launch in 86 Ulta stores.

Updated the 32 page packaging guideline book, using the new graphics system.

Root Touch Up Products

Created Root Reboot box and tube for retail at Ulta. The objective was to create a tube and box that's on brand, using our purple, and showcasing the tubes unique feature, the sponge applicator, through vibrant product photography.

Redesigned our Root Touch Up box for Sephora's Beauty on the Fly. Our original box was dark and flimsy.

Store and Pop Up Color Bar NYC

I also worked closely with Ulta on creating a planogram for the 86 stores across the U.S, making sure we were creating a smooth shelf experience for our customers, while incorporating the launch of our new bot, combining technology whereas the customer takes a selfie of their hair and they instantly get color matched, helping them choose from the 32 colors offered.

We launched an online retail experience in New York City. My role was was to help brand the space and bring the Madison Reed experience to brick and mortar experience. We created a Root Touch Up bar, where women can get their roots done in 45 minutes, similar to Drybar. The success lead to other services using our color and gloss products. We went from pop up to a permanent salon space. My role was to work with a production team in NYC to bring to life the Madison Reed experience.

Social Media

Acts of Love is a movement empowering our customers and employees to create joy by selflessly giving to others.
Big or small, an act of love can produce extraordinary changes.

Concepted and spearheaded Madison Reed’s Act’s of Love, in order to strengthen our company brand pillars of love. Giving back to our community and our customer was at the heart of this movement. Act’s of Love really impacted our presence on social media, PR and great customer feedback.

Employees were motivated to go out and perform random acts of love and authentically post their act and keeping up with the love and we all encouraged each other to keep up the work. We tagged ourselves on Instagram with a custom hashtag.

Program

I created a golden ticket to put inside selected color boxes, which contained money for customer to pay it forward.
I hand wrote each note and put my calligraphy skills to use on the golden envelope.
